Why TaskiKids Is Better Than GoHenry for Kids' Chores

If you are searching for GoHenry in 2026, the first thing worth knowing is that in the United States it is not called GoHenry any more. Acorns bought it and the US product is now Acorns Early. GoHenry still exists as a brand in the UK. That split matters, because the two are priced differently and neither one is available where most of the world lives.

Underneath the rebrand it is the same kind of product Greenlight is: a children's money app with a card, and a chore list attached to it so the card has something to fill it up.

The short version

GoHenry and Acorns Early are money products, sold by the month, and locked to the UK and the US. TaskiKids is a free chore and reward app with no card, no subscription and no borders, and it is the only one of the three that speaks Arabic.

Two problems the rebrand created

Neither is a knock on the product itself, but both are real if you are choosing today:

  • The name you searched for may not be the product you get. Reviews, comparison posts and word of mouth still say GoHenry, while a US signup lands on Acorns Early with different pricing and a different app.
  • The chore side was never the centre of it. Reviewers who test these apps side by side consistently rate the chore interface as the weakest part, because it exists to justify the transfer rather than to make a nine-year-old want to tidy their room.

What a chore-first app does differently

TaskiKids has no card to sell, so the chore screen is the product rather than a feeder for it. That shows up in small, specific ways.

  1. 1

The child gets a list they can actually run

Tasks are grouped by time of day, so a child sees what is due now rather than a wall of everything.

  2. 2

Progress is visible without an adult explaining it

Points, XP, a level, a streak counter and badges. All of it is designed to be readable by a seven-year-old.

  3. 3

    The reward can arrive today

Fifteen mini-games are built into the app and unlocked with earned points, so effort pays off immediately instead of on payday.

  4. 4

You still control the real rewards

Set your own reward catalogue with your own point prices, including pocket money if you want money in the loop.

Arabic, and the part nobody else builds

TaskiKids ships a complete Arabic edition in Modern Standard Arabic, with the whole interface mirrored right-to-left, not just the text swapped. It also includes task categories and badges for prayer and Quran reading that track consistency, which no card-based kids money app offers and which matters a great deal to a lot of families in the Gulf and beyond.

If that is what you are setting up, our guide to helping kids keep up with their prayers covers how to structure it without turning worship into a scoreboard.

Where GoHenry or Acorns Early is the better choice

  • You are in the US or the UK and you want your child to have their own card.
  • You want allowance to move automatically without you doing anything.
  • Your child is old enough that budgeting real money is the actual lesson.
  • You want an investing account for them and are happy to pay for it.

TaskiKids does not move money at all. That is a genuine limitation, and for some families it is the deciding one.

Choose TaskiKids if

  • The goal is chores getting done
  • You are outside the US and the UK
  • You want Arabic, or prayer and reading tasks
  • You do not want a monthly subscription
  • Your kids are roughly 5 to 13

Choose GoHenry or Acorns Early if

  • You are in the US or the UK
  • You want a real card for your child
  • Automatic allowance transfers matter to you
  • You want a kids investing account

Try it without a card or a countdown

TaskiKids is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases. Nothing expires, so you can set up three tasks tonight and see whether points move your kids before you commit to anything.

Frequently asked questions

Is GoHenry still available?

In the UK, yes. In the United States it became Acorns Early after Acorns acquired GoHenry, and US families sign up to Acorns Early instead. Neither is available in most other countries.

What does Acorns Early cost?

Acorns Early Lite is $8 a month and covers up to four children. A higher Acorns tier adds parent tools and a kids investing account. TaskiKids is free.

Can TaskiKids give my child an allowance?

Indirectly, and many families prefer it that way. Children earn points, and you set a pocket money reward that unlocks at a points threshold. We wrote up one way to structure it in the base-plus-bonus allowance system.

Does my child need their own phone or email address?

No. Children sign in with a 4-digit PIN on a family device. TaskiKids does not ask for a child email address or phone number.
